In 1744 John Hancock's Father died and his family moved to Lexington with his grandfather. When he was 8 in 1745 he then moved to his uncle Thomas Hancock's home, a rich merchant in Boston. He was married to a woman named Lydia and he owned a store, ships and his home on beacon hill.
